Hutton Cranswick Community Primary School

JTAs (Junior Travel Ambassadors)

Our new JTAs 2020/21

Our JTAs are led by Miss Elliott and have been very busy and proactive over several years delivering assemblies, organising competitions and promoting the message of safer, active and independent travel within the school community. The children have worked with Road Safety Officer Christian Jordan. Alongside Christian and Miss Elliott, the children have planned many new events and initiatives.

Events they have arranged so far include:

 ‘Bling’ your bike to school.

 Walk to School Week.

Bike Doctor led by Christian Jordan.

Our JTAs put a lot of time and work into leading in this area. They are extremely proactive, independent and passionate about their role as a JTA. It is  great to see our children and parents showing their support to the events the JTAs lead, as this ensures the events are successful and have a lasting impact.

The JTAs met with Christian Jordan to establish their roles and held a stall at our Open Morning to talk to parents and carers about what they do.
They have organised assemblies with Christian about Safety of travel: the importance of seatbelts and helmets.
Bike Breakfasts have been a hit with bikes decorated with a Halloween theme and smoothies for breakfast (made on pedal bike) for those who traveled to school on bikes/scooters.
A 'Be bright Be seen' event was led with Christian which meant those who rode to school received free biking accessories like lights.

Our Year 5 children were really lucky to enjoy a lesson delivered and planned by the JTAs  to remind them of road safety.

Reception and Year 1 have also had a lesson delivered by the JTAs linked to Rail Safety.
