Who are the Friends of the School?
You may not know this but as a parent at Hutton Cranswick School you are automatically a member of the Friends of the School group. Your Committee of 2011/12 consists of 16 members, these are a blend of parents, teachers and enthusiastic villagers who give time, passion and commitment to help make a difference for every child that attends Hutton Cranswick C.P School. We meet on the second Monday each month from 6.30, Sub groups will sometimes meet more often & our AGM takes place in September.
The Friends of School is about much more than simply fundraising. The Friends exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school.
What do the Friends of the School do?
We regularly organise two school discos a year, one in February and the Pumpkin Ball in October. We coordinate three secret shops a year, one each for Mothers day, Fathers day & Christmas. This is where the children can come and buy a gift for just £1 for their loved ones and we always take great care & attention during this activity to give them choice & real value for money. We also arrange the schools family friendly events such as the Bingo evenings, the Summer Fair, Village Wide Car Boot Sale & Christmas Fair. One of our newest additions to annual status is our parent fundraiser which is always really well attended, which over recent years has taken place at the Water Margin restaurant in Driffield. We also run a minimum of two bags2school collections a year and collect funds by promoting the Yellow Moon gift catalogue, & are always interested in hearing new ideas.
We are fortunate to have a Friends of School that is now an integral part of the school community. In its time the Friends has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment, trips, visits and resources to enhance our children’s education experience and the school’s facilities.
